COMMON SENSE

Common sense

Although it’s said ‘The thought’s what counts’

It only counts for small amounts.

A gift, however good th’intent

Is not received, unless it’s sent.

The scent I send my lady friends

Is often sent to make amends.

Unless I wish to give offence

It’s priced in dollars, not in cents.

The odour’s most expensive sounds?

‘Eau de Cologne’ – it costs me pounds.

They all are rare and most intense

I wouldn’t call them common scents.
