It doesn’t matter if you are type one or type two.
As soon as they hear you are on insulin, people say: “Poor you –
All those horrible injections. That’s something I could never do.”

“But it’s not a problem,” you bravely say
(Knowing it mostly doesn’t hurt anyway),
“It’s just that it goes on day after day after day.”

Because it isn’t the stabbing and jabbing; the challenge we meet is
Taking control. Knowing when and what to eat is
The really hard part of coping with diabetes.
